Letters to Seniors – Dec 2022

Writing letters to seniors is a great way for giving back from the comfort of our home, and one learns the value of empathy and service through connecting with others.

Seniors say, the best gift is the gift of your time, plus other gift ideas for families. When asked about what they want for a Christmas gift, most aging adults will respond with, “don’t get me anything. I don’t need more things.”

M

any seniors still enjoy writing and receiving letters, so gifts of stationary, an assorted box of greeting cards, pens and stamps are a great gift. And when you receive one of these lovely cards, it is a great gift to mail a letter back!

Letters hold a sentimental place in their hearts, and unlike emails or texts, recipients can put them on display to cherish. For seniors who are isolated, receiving a hand-written note also shows that someone out there cares and took time to make something to brighten their day.

For children, letter writing is an engaging activity that lets them explore their creativity and learn to express themselves. Hats off to the Volunteering For Seniors Organization dedicated volunteer coordinator, Anjana Chennagiri, for this excellent coordination this weekend.

God bless these little Angels!
