Celebrating Five Years of Service
VFS Receives Official Citation from Massachusetts State Auditor Diana DiZoglio
Volunteering for Seniors Inc. (VFS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is deeply honored to receive an Official Citation from Massachusetts State Auditor Diana DiZoglio recognizing our work supporting seniors and caregivers. This recognition comes as VFS celebrates its fifth anniversary, marking five years of compassionate service, community connections, and a shared commitment to helping older adults feel valued and supported.
A Meaningful Recognition of Our Mission
Since its founding in 2021, VFS has worked to reduce isolation among seniors and create opportunities for connection, learning, creativity, and companionship. Our mission also embraces family caregivers, who often carry significant responsibilities while caring for someone they love.
Behind every program is a person whose life matters: a senior looking forward to a friendly conversation, an older adult finding joy in a familiar song, or a caregiver needing encouragement and a welcoming space to share their experiences.
This citation is a meaningful acknowledgment of those everyday moments and of the people who make them possible.
Connecting Seniors, Caregivers, and Communities
VFS brings people together through wellness education, caregiver support circles, music and cultural activities, social gatherings, and intergenerational programs. These experiences offer seniors opportunities to participate, express themselves, build friendships, and remain connected to their communities.
Our work includes outreach to immigrant and AAPI elders, with attention to the cultural and language barriers that can make it harder to find support and a sense of belonging. We believe that honoring people’s traditions, stories, and experiences helps create welcoming spaces where they feel understood.
Our intergenerational programs invite young people to engage with older adults through shared activities, performances, conversation, and service. These connections encourage mutual respect and give both generations opportunities to learn from one another.
For caregivers, VFS provides spaces for conversation, shared learning, and encouragement. By recognizing their experiences and connecting them with others, we seek to remind caregivers that their well-being matters, too.
Gratitude to Auditor Diana DiZoglio
We sincerely thank Auditor Diana DiZoglio for recognizing VFS and the community we serve. We are especially grateful that she joined us at Neelkanth: The Rise of Shiva on October 3, 2026, and spent time watching the production and connecting with its story.
Her presence made the occasion even more meaningful. The evening brought together art, culture, community, and service, reflecting the connections that VFS continues to nurture through its collaborations.
An Honor Shared by Many
This recognition belongs to the entire VFS community. Our team members, volunteers, instructors, community partners, donors, and supporters contribute their time, talents, and kindness to help our mission grow.
Whether someone leads a wellness session, shares music, coordinates an event, offers companionship, or helps behind the scenes, each contribution matters. Together, these acts of care have helped turn a hope into five years of service.
We also extend our gratitude to the seniors, caregivers, and families who trust us and welcome us into their lives. Their voices and experiences guide our work and remind us why we began.
Looking Ahead
As VFS celebrates this milestone, we remain committed to growing thoughtfully, strengthening partnerships, and creating meaningful opportunities for seniors and caregivers to connect.
We carry this recognition forward with gratitude and renewed purpose. Our guiding belief remains simple: every senior deserves to feel seen, valued, and remembered, and every caregiver deserves to feel supported.
